Frigid and fickle temperatures across the DMV area have focused us on one thought – come on Spring! As you know, readying your home for any season takes careful preparation and planning. Over the next few weeks, we will create Get Ready for Spring Guidelines for updating your home. So, keep your eyes on this blog for tips you can follow step by step to get your interiors updated for one of the most anticipated seasons of the year.
Over the next several weeks this blog series will cover the following topics:
• Creating a Color Palette
• Fabrics to Consider for Your Updates
• Integrating Blinds into Your Perfectly Updated Room
• Revive your furniture with Reupholstery, Slipcovers, and Draperies
• Tips for Updating Your Outdoor Furniture
• Celebrate Spring with Ornamentation
• How to Unveil Your New Spring Look
But before we dive in, here are two assignments to get you started.
Assignment #1 – Out with the old, in with the new
It’s never too early for spring cleaning. Clean out the old so that you can find those forgotten gems in the rough – like that heirloom sofa you’ve tucked in a corner in your attic. Recycle timeless pieces that can add value to your design through a reupholstery project.
Assignment #2 – Find your inspiration in the sights and sounds of Spring
When you think of spring, which childhood memories resonate most? Is it the smell of fresh flowers from your grandmother’s garden? Perhaps it’s the memory of pastels and paisley that seemed to overwhelm the wardrobes of your relatives when you were growing up? Maybe the thought is simpler, like the memory of looking out of the window in wonderment at the fact that the view of the outdoors that was once brown has magically become lush and green again. Take the good feelings you remember and let them inform your color palate.
Create an inspiration board and have it on hand when you when you visit our showroom or schedule a shop at home appointment with one of our interior designers. After all, fond memories lead to well-designed interiors.
Take a look at this fun video Design Board we created on ideas for how to get started. And don’t forget to read our blog to find inspiration here, too.
