Motorized window treatments can be controlled from a variety of devices from simple handheld remotes to sophisticated Apps on mobile devices. While you’re planning for your motorized window treatments, make sure to consider how you want to operate them. To help guide you through the options, below is a list of control options:
Handheld Remotes – The affordable price and portability of these controls makes them a favorite for many homeowners. Some consumers opt away from these though when they feel that they already have too many other remotes for TVs, stereos, etc. or worry about losing a remote.
Wall Mount Keypads – If you’re worried about misplacing a handheld remote, wall mounted keypads are permanently affixed to the wall. We recommend locating them near your new lighting switches so you can control all the lighting in room for a single location. If you already have lots of lighting switches though, your walls may look even more cluttered with wall mounted keypads.
Time Clocks – Time clocks help your shades adjust automatically. The shade installer will help you create a schedule of movements perfectly tailored for your privacy and light control needs throughout the day. They may be a bit more expensive other options but they are a favorite amongst our Motorization Experts.
App Control – From your mobile device, simply pop up an App and begin controlling your shades. Most motorized window treatment Apps enable you to operate your shades both while in your home and remotely from anywhere in the world. Many of these Apps also have some exciting features like time clock control.
Home Automation – If you have a Home Automation system, your motorized window treatments can almost always be integrated into it. Just ask the installers of your smart home system and blinds to discuss the integration process and soon enough your shades will be up and running on the system.
