Now that you’ve chosen just the right fabric for your Spring interiors, it’s time to think about where that fabric will be placed. Will your new fabric don your draperies, or will you use it to reupholster your chair/sofa or as a slipcover?
Here are a few tips to lead you through the process of deciding whether your dazzling new fabric belongs on your sofa as reupholstery, as a slipcover or as your drapes.
Tip #1: Consider your double rub.
Some fabrics may be intended for draperies, and others for Reupholstery due to the difference in double rub – which is the measure of durability of a fabric in the interior design trade. Due to the function of furniture and the fact that you will be sitting on a sofa or a slipcover, it’s best to use fabrics with greater durability. So, take some of the guess work out of this decision by talking to your designer during your shop at home appointment or when you visit our showroom to find out where your fabric falls on the durability scale.
Tip #2: Think about the utility and functionality of the room year-round.
Maybe you like your sofa as is for winter, but that brown velvet look just doesn’t match your ideal look for spring. A slipcover (or even a few) will give your living room a different look in the warmer seasons of the year. Or, you could swap out certain pieces of your living room depending on the season, like a reupholstered chair and custom pillows. Choose fun Spring/Summer fabric with the knowledge that you will be able to take those slipcovers off or rotate those items out this fall, and retreat back into your cozy living room.
Tip #3: Go beyond fabric choices to changes in style
